The model
What a Social Justice Center is.
A Social Justice Center is a community space run by the people who live there. It is where residents bring cases of abuse and eviction, where organizers meet, where young people get political education, and where human rights defenders find a safe place to work. The model came from Mathare, Dandora and Kiambu in Nairobi. It works because it belongs to the neighbourhood, not to an office.

Gather your people
Identify ten committed community members, five women and five men, who already do this work informally.

Reach out to us
Tell us about your community, the injustices you are organizing against, and who is involved.

Train together
We run establishment training covering organizing, documentation, civic education, security and center governance.

Set up your structure
Elect a Chapter Convenor, Secretary, Treasurer, Secretary for Publicity and Mobilizer.

Open your doors
Your center joins the national network, with shared campaigns, legal referral routes, rapid response support and solidarity from every other center.
